70-year-old woman brutally assaulted in Rajgarh:Body mutilated, found critical in field; dies in hospital, grandson taken into custody

A 70-year-old woman was brutally attacked and later succumbed due to her injuries in the Bhojpur police station area in Rajgarh district. The victim’s nose and tongue were allegedly severed with a sharp weapon. She was found writhing in pain in a wheat field and later succumbed to her injuries at a hospital. Family members rushed her to Khilchipur Hospital after discovering her in a critical condition, but she died during treatment. Signs of struggle, sexual assault suspected According to preliminary information, a cot was found lying near the spot where the woman was discovered, raising suspicions of sexual assault. Blood was found scattered at the scene. Police cordoned off the area and began collecting forensic evidence. The woman’s grandson has been taken into custody for questioning. Family lived in field hut The victim’s son alleged that his mother was murdered. The family comprises three sons and a daughter. For nearly 30 years, the woman, her husband and one of her sons had been living in a hut built in their farmland, located about one kilometre from the village. Her husband passed away two years ago. At present, the woman was living there with her son and daughter-in-law. Son had gone for irrigation work The son told police that his wife had gone to Rajasthan around 10 days ago with her maternal relatives for labour work. On Tuesday night, he had gone to a nearby field for irrigation work, leaving his mother alone in the hut. He returned late at night and went to sleep. On Wednesday morning, when he woke up to make tea, he found his mother missing from the hut. Initially assuming she had gone to the village for some work, he searched there, but she was nowhere to be found. The family then began searching the nearby fields. Found injured in wheat field A short distance from the hut, the woman was found lying severely injured in the middle of a wheat field. The family immediately informed the police. She was taken to the hospital but died during treatment. Postmortem conducted, investigation underway Police said a team of two doctors conducted the postmortem at Khilchipur Hospital in the afternoon. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the postmortem report is received. The woman’s grandson has been detained, and further investigation is underway.
