Chaos erupted on Wednesday morning at Laxmi Hospital in Anand Nagar, Bhopal, after a young man died during treatment. The deceased’s family accused the hospital management of negligence and began protesting, leading to vandalism inside the premises. As the situation worsened, hospital staff informed the police. Officers who reached the spot tried to calm the family members, but they and their associates allegedly turned aggressive and started pelting stones at the police. One policeman suffered a serious head injury, while three others sustained minor injuries. The incident began around 10.30am and continued for nearly an hour. Police detained more than two dozen people involved in the disturbance and took them to Piplani police station. Personnel from two police stations have been deployed at the site as a precaution. Angry mob vandalizes hospital after death According to information, the deceased, Laxman Vanshkar, was a resident of Adampur Chhawani. He had been admitted to the hospital the previous night due to a serious stomach ailment. He died during treatment. After his death, family members alleged medical negligence and claimed that the doctors’ carelessness led to his death. They demanded to meet the treating doctor, but hospital staff informed them that the doctor was not present at the time. Angered by this, the relatives began creating a ruckus and damaged hospital property, escalating tensions. Demand for arrest of treating doctor As the protest intensified, hospital authorities called the police. Officers asked the family to file a formal complaint at the police station and assured them that a case would be registered and a post-mortem conducted. They said further action would be decided after the PM report. However, the family insisted on immediate action and demanded the arrest of the treating doctor. The dispute between the family and police escalated, leading to stone-pelting. Police had to use mild force to control the crowd. Additional personnel from nearby police stations were called in, after which the situation was brought under control.
