It has been 48 hours since the bodies of a young man and woman were found lying in a pool of blood on the terrace of Suresh Purvaiya’s house in Bhatgaon, Narmadapuram. Police are probing the case from multiple angles. As part of the investigation, the cyber cell examined call details and other digital data from the mobile phones of both deceased. Based on new evidence and mobile history gathered over the past two days, police say the case appears to be linked to a love affair. Investigations revealed that Arun Purvaiya (23) and Pinky Purvaiya (21) had known each other for a long time and were in a relationship. Before the incident, Arun had searched on YouTube for easy ways to die. On the night of the incident, he sent a message to his brother Akhil stating that he intended to take his own life. He had also reportedly shared his distress with a ‘Swami ji’. SDOP Sanju Chauhan said that, based on the evidence collected so far, the case does not appear to be an honour killing. No such proof has emerged at this stage. First killed the young woman, then shot himself A panel of two doctors — Neha Verma and Kamlesh Vishwas — conducted the post-mortem. A pregnancy test kit and other items were found near the deceased. However, the post-mortem did not confirm that the girl was pregnant. According to the evidence and facts gathered so far, police believe the young man may have shot the woman first and then turned the gun on himself. The last rites of both were performed on Tuesday. Watched videos on YouTube about what happens after death Mobile history showed that Arun had watched several videos on YouTube. He searched for how long it takes to die after being shot and what happens after death. Police said there was initial suspicion whether it was murder or suicide. Based on the message and online searches, the case appears to be one of suicide. 10-year-old acquaintance, both were from the same community Sohagpur police station in-charge Usha Maravi said Arun and Rinki had studied together around 10 years ago in Sohagpur. Rinki had studied up to Class 12, while Arun was a BSc graduate. Arun lived in Gora Mahwai Bharkachh (Raisen), while Rinki lived in Bhatgaon. Both belonged to the same community and used to talk for hours on mobile phones. Arun’s body was found lying face down at the bathroom gate On Monday (2 March), Arun’s bike (MP37 MW 6407) was found parked under a peepal tree outside the house. His body was lying face down near the bathroom gate, with a head injury. A pistol was found near his left hand. Rinki had a bullet wound to the head, with the bullet passing through. Both sustained one gunshot each. Surprisingly, no one reported hearing a gunshot during the night. Rinki, her sister, brother and sister-in-law Ranu were sleeping on the terrace. At around 6am, Ranu woke up and saw the bodies near the bathroom and screamed. Hearing her, the father and other family members rushed upstairs and were shocked to see the blood-soaked bodies. The shot was fired from close range, went through due to high velocity Forensic officer Rishikesh Yadav said both had suffered gunshot wounds and the bullets exited their bodies. The shots were fired from very close range, which is why the entry wound on the head was not very large. If someone else had fired the shots, there would likely have been signs of resistance and distance between the bodies. Police believe the youth shot the girl first and then himself. The bullet hit the girl at high speed and exited directly, resulting in less external bleeding. The boy shot himself and bled after falling. SP says – This cannot be called honor killing SP Saikrishna Thota said forensic and fingerprint experts were sent to the scene to collect evidence. The post-mortem was conducted by a panel of two doctors, and the report will clarify the exact cause of death. Based on the investigation so far, it cannot be termed an honour killing. The probe is ongoing.
