Man shot dead while sleeping beside wife:Broken bangles found in room; brother alleges neighbour committed murder, police suspect suicide

A 25-year-old young man died from a gunshot in his own room in Morena late Monday night. The deceased Lavkush Mahaur worked as a laborer in Surat (Gujarat). He had come home 12 days ago, to celebrate his son’s birth and Holi. At the time of the incident, he was sleeping in the room with his wife, while other family members were sleeping outside. Around 3 AM, family members woke up hearing the gunshot, and when they got the room door open, the young man was found dead. He had been shot in the temple. The incident occurred in the lane in front of the Sihonia police station. Suspicion of dispute between husband and wife During the investigation, police and the FSL team found broken bangles of the deceased’s wife in the room, suggesting there may have been a fight between the husband and wife before the incident. According to DSP Vijay Bhadauria, at first glance, this appears to be a case of suicide, as significant gun powder and carbon marks were found on the deceased’s temple, indicating the shot was fired from point-blank range. Brother’s allegation – Neighbor came through the roof, shot and left 12 days ago, Lavkush’s wife, Rakhi, gave birth to a son, so he had come to his home in Sihonia. He was going to return after Holi. According to the deceased’s younger brother, Anil Mahaur, his brother Lavkush was shot by neighbor Vikram Parmar. He came through the roof route, shot my brother, and ran away. Vikram’s slipper was also found on the roof. There was a fight with Vikram during my uncle’s daughter’s wedding on March 6, 2025, last year.
