A father and his son were charred to death after their CNG-powered car caught fire following a collision with a Bolero vehicle under the jurisdiction of Kundipura Police Station on Seoni Road in Chhindwara district early Tuesday morning. A video showing the car engulfed in flames has also surfaced. Victims identified Police identified the deceased as 61-year-old Amrit Singh and his 22-year-old son Arun Singh, residents of Parasia-Dighawani. The duo had reportedly travelled to their ancestral village in Uttar Pradesh and were returning home when the accident took place—just before reaching their destination. Driver allegedly dozed off According to local residents, the car was being driven at high speed by Arun Singh. After prolonged driving, he allegedly dozed off around 3 am, causing the vehicle to go out of control. The car first rammed into a roadside signboard and then collided with a Bolero parked outside Jai Ambe Garage. CNG cylinder catches fire Following the impact, the CNG cylinder installed in the car caught fire, turning the vehicle into a blazing inferno within minutes. The intensity of the flames left the father and son with no opportunity to escape. The fire quickly spread, engulfing two other vehicles parked at the garage and reducing them to ashes. Bodies charred before fire was doused The operator of Jai Ambe Garage immediately alerted the Kundipura police. A police team rushed to the spot, and after considerable effort, managed to bring the fire under control. However, by then, both occupants had been completely charred. Station in-charge Mahendra Bhagat stated that the bodies have been sent to the district hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway. Preliminary findings suggest that drowsiness while driving late at night was the primary cause of the accident.
