25,000-sq-ft-encroachment-cleared-behind-myh:illegal-structures-built-in-name-of-mosque-demolished;-government-land-freed

Illegal structures built in the name of a mosque behind MYH and near the Super Speciality Hospital were demolished by the administration on Saturday. About 25,000 sq ft of government land was freed from encroachment. During the one-and-a-half-hour drive, a boundary wall, common toilet, front portion of a hall and garden area were removed using JCB machines. At 7:30 am, SDM Ghanshyam Dhangar, Tehsildar Kamlesh Kushwah, Additional DCP Ramsnehi Mishra, ACP Tushar Singh and municipal ZO Geetesh Tiwari reached the spot with teams. Two poclain machines, three JCBs, 100 civic staff and over 100 police personnel were deployed. Some people protested, but after persuasion the action continued. The administration directed the mosque committee to remove the remaining portion of the hall within seven days. The drive was carried out following a tehsildar court order, which declared all construction except 300 sq ft of mosque area illegal. Claims rejected in Tehsildar Court In the government land encroachment case, the tehsildar court rejected claims of the Waqf Board and mosque management. In his order, Tehsildar Kamlesh Kushwah said only 300 sq ft construction was permitted in 1985, but later it was expanded to nearly 30,000 sq ft. Government land recorded in Nazul records According to SDM Ghanshyam Dhangar, the land is located in CRP Line area of Juni Indore tehsil, Block No. 12 (new survey 38). About 0.70 acre is recorded as government land in nazul records. It falls in an unserved portion of the Residency area. The matter had reached court after a local complaint. The word ‘Mosque’ in document is in different handwriting Investigation revealed that permission granted on 9 September 1985 allowed mosque construction only within 300 sq ft. Google satellite images also confirm that the initial structure was small. Later, the word “mosque” was added in different handwriting in the document.
