Pakistan’s T20I captain, Salman Ali Agha and his family have become targets of online abuse following the team’s defeat to England in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The criticism intensified after Pakistan lost a crucial Super Eights match, putting their chances of reaching the semi-finals in danger. The situation became more concerning when Agha’s wife, Saba Manzer, revealed that she and their young son were receiving abusive messages on social media. The incident has sparked outrage, with many players and fans calling for respect and an end to personal attacks. Pakistan had entered the Super Eights stage with strong hopes, but the loss to England has left their campaign hanging by a thread. Their final group match against Sri Lanka is now a must-win if they want to stay in the race for the semi-finals. Salman Agha’s wife speaks out against abuse After the defeat, Saba Manzer shared her frustration through an Instagram story, highlighting the abuse directed at her and her child. She wrote, “Sending me or my innocent son abuse is not going to win you the World Cup, Pakistani fans.” Her message quickly spread across social media, drawing attention from players and fans around the world. South African spinner Tabraiz Shamsi strongly condemned the behaviour and supported the family. He said, “It’s this type of stupid behaviour that pisses me off!!!! Yeah u can be sad that your team lost, winning and losing is part of sport but there is no need to abuse players’ families. This goes for fans from all different countries. Have some respect for others please.” Harry Brook’s century powers England to victory over Pakistan England secured a dramatic two-wicket win while chasing a target of 165 runs. Captain Harry Brook led from the front with a brilliant innings of exactly 100 runs off just 51 balls, hitting ten fours and four sixes. His knock played a key role in helping England reach the target with five balls remaining. The match saw tense moments towards the end. With England needing only five runs from the last two overs, Pakistan spinner Mohammad Nawaz dismissed Sam Jacks for 28 and then had Jamie Overton stumped in the same over. Despite the late fightback, England kept their calm and completed the chase, confirming their place in the semi-finals and finishing at the top of Group 2. Pakistan’s semi-final hopes on the line Pakistan had performed well in the group stage, defeating the Netherlands, USA, and Namibia, with their only loss coming against India. Their Super Eights campaign also included a rain-affected match against New Zealand. However, the loss to England has made their path to the semi-finals much harder. Pakistan must now win their final Super Eights match against Sri Lanka to keep their hopes alive. They also need to depend upon the New Zealand-England clash, as if the Kiwis defeat the English side, they will be knocked out of the tournament.
