A student appearing for the MP Board examination in Morena fainted and collapsed during her paper. School staff immediately informed her family. She was taken to hospital, where doctors declared her dead. The family then transported her to Jayarogya Hospital in Gwalior, but doctors there also confirmed her death. Incident at examination centre in Banmour The incident took place on Tuesday at the Pandit Nehru Part Two College examination centre in Banmour. Varsha Kushwah, a Class 10 student of St. Paul School, was sitting her mathematics board examination. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter. Morena Collector Lokesh Kumar Jangid described the incident as deeply tragic. He said, ‘The student’s death is extremely unfortunate. I have personally spoken to doctors in Gwalior regarding the case. According to the preliminary report, it has emerged that the student was severely malnourished. She was also suffering from acute anaemia. It is suspected that she may have suffered a cardiac arrest as a result. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report.’ Family’s account of events Varsha’s uncle, Avdhesh Kushwah, stated that his younger brother, Ajay Kushwah, had taken Varsha and her brother to the examination centre that morning. He said Varsha appeared completely well when she went inside to sit the paper, and the family has no knowledge of what transpired thereafter. After some time, an employee from the examination centre came outside and called Ajay inside, informing him that Varsha’s health had suddenly deteriorated. According to the family, teachers were rubbing her hands and feet in an attempt to revive her. Ajay then took her to hospital with assistance from school staff.
