He further adds that the top court’s ruling has accidentally given him more powers. The American president added that he can use ‘Licenses’ to do absolutely ‘terrible’ things to the foreign countries especially those which are “ripping” US off ‘for many decades.’ US SC: Trump tariffs are illegal The US Supreme Court had quashed the reciprocal tariffs on 21 February, stating that the Republican president had no authority to levy such import duties by invoking the IEEPA. Following this, the Republican president first announced 10% global tariffs, invoking Section 122 of the US Constitution, but later increased the import surcharge to 15%. She added that the commerce ministry was reviewing the situation. Meanwhile, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the agency responsible for collecting tariffs (taxes on imports), announced it will stop collecting certain tariffs starting Tuesday, 24 February, 2026.
