Madhya Pradesh has been placed under a rain alert for the fourth time in February. The Meteorological Department has forecast rainfall in seven districts, including Mandla and Dindori, on Monday. Meanwhile, daytime temperatures are expected to rise on Sunday, with the mercury likely to increase by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius. Rainfall in over 15 districts in 24 hours In the past 24 hours, more than 15 districts, including Bhopal, Sagar, Jabalpur, Dhar, Indore, Khandwa, Raisen, Ratlam and Ujjain, recorded rainfall. The change in weather conditions was attributed to cyclonic circulation and trough activity. Bhopal witnessed cloudy skies on Saturday morning, followed by bright sunshine later in the day. This led to a rise in daytime temperatures. Weather conditions also shifted in the south-eastern districts of Chhatarpur, Panna, Satna, Rewa and Mauganj, where light drizzle was reported. Western disturbance advances; rain likely in 7 districts The Meteorological Department had earlier issued an alert regarding a Western Disturbance affecting the Western Himalayan region on 22 February. However, the system advanced earlier than expected. As a result, prolonged rainfall is unlikely, though some districts remain under a rain alert for Monday. The districts that may receive rainfall include Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Balaghat, Mandla, Dindori and Anuppur. On 22 February (Sunday), the weather is expected to remain clear, with no rain alert issued for any part of the state. 3 earlier spells of rain in February Earlier this month, the state experienced two spells of hail, rain and storms, which caused significant crop damage. The government subsequently conducted surveys to assess the affected farmland. From 18 February onwards, the state witnessed its third spell of rainfall, with its impact continuing on 19, 20 and 21 February. Now, a fourth spell of rain is expected, with the possibility of showers again on 23 February. Relief from night cold Rainfall led to a drop in daytime temperatures. On Saturday, there was some relief from cold winds. During the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, Rajgarh recorded the lowest temperature at 9.6°C, while Mandsaur registered 10.8°C. Temperatures in the remaining districts stayed comparatively higher.
