A lawyer from Khudail, Indore, has filed a case against his wife and her alleged lover, accusing them of attempting to poison him during a trip to Shillong. The police are currently searching for the woman and her partner. The lawyer claims that his wife, Neelima, introduced a man as her ‘brother,’ who later turned out to be her boyfriend, Shubham. According to the complaint, the couple conspired to poison him and push him off a hill during their Shillong trip. After the attempt failed, the wife allegedly fled with 25 tolas of gold and cash along with Shubham. Police searching for woman and young man Khudail police station in-charge Karnisinh Shaktawat stated that the woman had falsely presented Shubham as her maternal cousin. Following the lawyer’s complaint, a technical investigation has begun, including tracing their location and questioning multiple people. Victim Bhupendra said he met Neelima through a matrimonial website. Neelima had identified herself as divorced. After getting to know each other, the couple married in November 2024. Soon after, Neelima began bringing Shubham into the house, claiming he was her brother. Poisonous substance mixed in food During the Shillong trip, the lawyer alleges that Neelima mixed poison into his food, causing him to fall seriously ill. Later, she allegedly attempted to push him off a hill, but he survived. Wife became suspicious Upon returning to Indore, Bhupendra grew suspicious of Neelima’s activities. He obtained documents related to her previous divorce, which revealed that Shubham was not her brother but her boyfriend, with the surname Gupta. This revelation heightened the dispute. Threats of false cases Bhupendra claims that after marriage, Neelima pressured him for ₹20,000 monthly. When he resisted, she threatened him with false dowry cases and even suicide. He alleges that she spent hours in Shubham’s room and frequently engaged in WhatsApp chats with him, leading to arguments when questioned. Went for Holi, never returned On 3 March 2025, Neelima allegedly went to Uttar Pradesh with Shubham under the pretext of celebrating Holi, taking jewellery and cash from home. Police are investigating her disappearance along with the 25 tolas of gold.
