Madhya Pradesh is showing significantly faster justice delivery for serious crimes against children under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act compared to several major states and metropolitan cities in India. According to official data presented in the Rajya Sabha, fast-track special courts (FTSC) in MP take considerably less time to conclude POCSO trials than similar courts in Delhi, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh. Average trial duration: MP vs other states This highlights MP’s relatively efficient judicial process in handling sensitive child-related cases. National context: Over 2.24 lakh cases pending As of 31 December 2025, there were 224,572 POCSO cases pending across 29 states and Union Territories. To expedite these cases, India currently has 774 fast-track special courts, including 398 exclusive POCSO courts (e-POCSO courts). Focus on child-friendly judicial environment The government has been promoting Vulnerable Witness Deposition Centres (VWDC) within court premises to provide children with a supportive, non-intimidating environment for giving testimony. Over 10,000 participants have received special training in handling child witnesses to ensure a “child-friendly” judicial atmosphere. Understanding the trial process Minister highlights importance of swift justice Narendra Shivaji Patel, MP’s Minister of Health and Medical Education, said, “Justice is only justice if delivered promptly. Delays amount to prolonged injustice. We are satisfied that we have made every effort to ensure victims receive timely justice.” Post navigation Free milk till 8th class; 15k teachers hiring:Laadli Behnas get ₹23,882 Cr; no hike in MLA fund sparks row in MP House
