After suffering losses in his wheat and flour business, a trader in Ashoknagar allegedly set up an MD drug manufacturing unit. He is said to have learned how to make the narcotic through YouTube and sourced raw materials from Indore. Acting on inputs received there, a 15-member team of the Indore Narcotics Department reached Kadrana village in the Chanderi area around 1.30 am between Monday and Tuesday. They surrounded the location and arrested main accused Priyanshu Jain alias Shanu Modi and Raghavendra Parmar. When the team raided the premises, Priyanshu (31), a resident of Hat ka Pura in Chanderi, and Raghavendra Parmar (38), a resident of Kadrana, were allegedly preparing drugs using chemicals. They had set up a lab inside Raghavendra’s house. Drugs and items worth over ₹2 crore seized
Officials recovered more than one kilo of MD, equipment used to manufacture drugs, a car and an illegal pistol from the spot. The total value of the seized items is estimated at about ₹2 crore. The car seized from Priyanshu carried a BJP symbol and the words “BJP Yuva Morcha Chanderi Vice President,” and police said the accused used this vehicle to supply drugs. Priyanshu told investigators he had begun making drugs only about one and a half months ago. His brother Himanshu works in Chanderi during film shoots, handling arrangements such as setting up infrastructure, arranging food and gathering crowds. Call and bank records under scrutiny
The Narcotics Department said the lead came from a drug user arrested in Indore who revealed that narcotics were being supplied from Chanderi. During questioning, the accused allegedly admitted supplying drugs to major cities of Madhya Pradesh and other states. Investigators are now examining mobile call records and bank transaction details to trace buyers and suppliers. Priyanshu told the team he earlier ran a large wheat and flour business spread across several states but fell into financial trouble after two major parties allegedly withheld payments. To recover losses and earn money, he said, he started manufacturing drugs. The finished product was reportedly sent to cities such as Indore and Bhopal, while some customers came directly to the village to purchase it. The narcotics team took Priyanshu and Raghavendra to Indore, where the case was disclosed in a press conference on Wednesday afternoon. BJP district chief responds
Reacting to the case, BJP district president Alok Tiwari said no person named Priyanshu Jain is associated with the party. He added that people often put political party names on their vehicles falsely to avoid police action.
