Employees of a liquor company were chased and assaulted by armed miscreants in Badnawar town of Dhar district on Friday morning, leaving one worker critically injured. The victim was later referred to Indore for treatment. CCTV footage of the assault and vandalism has since surfaced. According to police, the liquor contractor’s staff monitor illegal liquor sales in the area. On Friday morning, the employees chased a vehicle suspected of carrying illegal liquor. The vehicle was spotted near Borali bus stand on the Lebad–Nayagaon four-lane road, where the staff stopped it. At that point, the attackers allegedly assaulted the liquor company employees with sticks. The assailants brutally beat the staff and also vandalised their four-wheeler vehicle. One employee sustained serious injuries in the attack and was subsequently sent to Indore for treatment. CCTV footage of the incident surfaced CCTV cameras installed at a house near the bus stand captured the entire incident. The footage shows the attackers continuing the assault and vandalism for nearly 20 minutes. However, no illegal liquor was recovered from the spot. Employees said – smugglers were carrying illegal liquor After assaulting the employees, the accused also damaged their vehicle. Rajesh Jaiswal, associated with the liquor company, said several employees were injured in the attack. He added that an employee, Vishal Jaiswal, suffered a serious head injury and has been admitted to a hospital in Indore. According to Jaiswal, the smugglers were transporting illegal liquor, although no liquor was found at the scene. Local police have not yet identified the attackers. An investigation is underway, and police said efforts are being made to arrest the accused at the earliest.
