Indian cricketer Rinku Singh has fallen victim to cyber fraud after his official Facebook account was hacked. The hackers not only took control of the account but also diverted its monetisation earnings to their own account. A case has now been registered at the cybercrime police station following a complaint filed by Rinku’s brother, Sonu Singh. According to the complaint, Rinku was busy with international cricket commitments and preparations for the T20 World Cup, due to which he could not closely monitor his social media accounts. The issue came to light on February 4, when Rinku tried to log into his Facebook account and found that the password was no longer working. After repeated failed login attempts, Rinku informed his brother, who immediately approached the authorities. Following directions from the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), a formal case was registered and an investigation has begun. As investigations continue into the cyber fraud case, fans hope that Rinku’s account will be restored soon and justice will be served. How was the Facebook account hacked? Rinku Singh’s brother Sonu Singh, a resident of Ozone City Gold State, revealed that Rinku is currently in Mumbai after returning from a T20 World Cup warm-up match against South Africa. When Rinku attempted to access his Facebook account on February 4, he realised that the registered email ID had been changed. Despite not using the account, photos and videos were being uploaded, which raised suspicion. Earlier, the account was linked to the email ID rinkukumar344.8.7, but it is now being operated using another email ID, commercial.rinkukumar. This confirmed that the account had been taken over by hackers. The Facebook page has around 1.6 million followers and is monetised, generating significant income. Sonu stated that this income is now being transferred directly to the hackers’ account. Police action and account recovery efforts Cyber Crime Station Inspector Ramendra Shukla confirmed that a case has been registered against unknown persons. SSP Neeraj Kumar Jadaun said the cyber team has been instructed to trace the hackers, stop further financial loss, and recover the account as soon as possible. Police officials have assured the family that strict action will be taken and digital evidence is being examined. Engagement With MP Priya Saroj Apart from the cyber fraud case, Rinku Singh has also been in the news for his personal life. He got engaged to Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj on June 8 last year at a grand ring ceremony in Lucknow. The event was attended by several high-profile leaders, including Akhilesh Yadav, Dimple Yadav, and Jaya Bachchan. The wedding was initially planned for November 18 in Kashi but was postponed due to Rinku’s packed cricket schedule, including IPL and the T20 World Cup. A new date has not yet been finalised. A Journey from struggle to national stardom Rinku Singh’s rise to fame is a story of hard work and struggle. Coming from a modest background, his father worked as a gas cylinder deliveryman. Rinku and his brothers also helped deliver cylinders to support the family. Despite financial hardships, Rinku continued playing cricket with borrowed equipment and limited resources. His life changed after his iconic five sixes in IPL 2023 for Kolkata Knight Riders, which made him a household name.
