couple-evicted-from-hospital-premises-blocks-ujjain–dewas-highway:stage-protest-with-children-after-placing-household-items-on-road

A couple evicted from a private hospital blocked the Ujjain–Dewas Highway on Thursday by placing their household belongings on the road and sitting there with their children, causing long traffic jams on both sides. The protest led to hundreds of vehicles being stranded for nearly 45 minutes. Traffic resumed only after the district collector reached the spot and assured the family of action. Eviction from hospital triggers protest The man, Ramdiyal Prajapat, a resident of Khategaon, is suffering from kidney failure and has been undergoing treatment at Amaltas Hospital in Dewas. For the past two years, he and his family had been living in a makeshift hut inside the hospital premises. According to Ramdiyal, the hospital management had repeatedly asked him to remove the hut. On Wednesday, an argument broke out with hospital staff, following which the family was allegedly forcibly evicted at night, with their belongings thrown out of the premises. Allegation of assault on wife Angered by the eviction, Ramdiyal, along with his wife Dwarika and their children, reached the highway near Singawada village in Ujjain district on Thursday morning and blocked the road. Ramdiyal alleged that hospital staff assaulted his wife during the eviction. He also claimed that he had earlier complained to the police, but no action was taken against the hospital management. Jam ends after Collector’s assurance As traffic piled up on both sides of the highway, Collector Roshan Kumar Singh arrived at the scene, heard the couple’s grievances, and assured them of appropriate action. Following this assurance, the couple lifted the blockade and traffic was restored.
