Tuesday is the fifth day of Parliament’s Budget Session. The Lok Sabha is likely to remain disrupted today. On Monday, a heated exchange took place during the debate on the motion of thanks to the President’s address while Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi was speaking. Quoting an unpublished book by former Army Chief General Naravane, Rahul Gandhi claimed that four Chinese tanks had reached the Ladakh border on August 31, 2020. As he made this claim, he was first interrupted by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and later by Home Minister Amit Shah. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla then intervened, citing parliamentary rules. The first phase, which started on January 28, will continue until February 13. The second phase will begin on March 9. At present, nine bills are pending in the Lok Sabha. These include the Developing India Education Foundation Bill 2025, the Securities Markets Code 2025, and the Constitution (129th Amendment) Bill 2024.
