A shocking incident has come to light on a train in which a family from Dahod, Gujarat, travelling to Ujjain for ashes immersion, was beaten. The incident occurred after some youths boarded the train at Ratlam station, reportedly heading towards Nagda. According to the family, during the journey between Ratlam and Khachrod, one of the Muslim youths allegedly tried to harass a girl from the family. When the family protested, an argument broke out. As the situation escalated, members of the Muslim community were called at Khachrod station. Around 50–60 people then boarded the train and brutally assaulted the entire family, including women, children, and elderly members. The family remains traumatised by the attack. Woman recounts harassment on train A woman from the family said the accused youth was smoking a cigarette inside the train and deliberately blowing smoke towards the girls. When the family objected, verbal abuse escalated into physical assault. Police use lathi-charge to control situation News of the incident spread quickly, and large crowds from Hindu organisations gathered at the railway station, while members of the Muslim community also arrived in significant numbers. Given the seriousness of the situation, police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the crowd. A large police contingent was deployed to Nagda to maintain order. The GRP is recording statements from the victims, and an investigation into the incident is underway.
