Police have revealed details about the death of a grandfather-granddaughter and guard due to poisoned sweets in Chhindwara. Investigation showed that due to the defamation caused by accusations made by the deceased Khushbu against her in-laws, her father-in-law, brother-in-law and sister-in-law conspired this plan. The guard ate the sweets first, then it became the cause of death for Khushbu and her father-in-law. All three accused have been arrested. Khushbu accused in-laws of harassment
According to police, the deceased Khushbu had accused her in-laws of harassment and misconduct after her marriage in January 2024. These accusations were causing defamation of the in-laws’ family. The accused hung a bag containing sweets mixed with arsenic (somal) near Khushbu’s father’s shop. First, PHE office watchman Dashru Yaduvanshi ate the sweets, which led to his death. Later, Khushbu’s mother took the sweets home, which resulted in the deaths of Khushbu and her father-in-law during treatment. FSL investigation found arsenic levels in the sweets to be thousands of times higher than normal. According to police, somal is commonly used to protect animals from cold.
Under the guidance of senior officials, Junnardev Police and Cyber Cell identified the accused based on technical evidence. The motorcycle and mobile used in the incident were seized. The three accused Jhadu son of Girdarilal Kharetwal (57), Shubham son of Jhadu Kasar (24) and Shivani Kasar daughter of Jhadu Kharetwal (22) have been arrested. Police registered murder case
A case has been registered against the accused under murder (Section 103(1), Indian Penal Code) and conspiracy. Police say investigation of other aspects in the case is ongoing.
