A young man carried out a life-threatening bike stunt inside the Mohania Tunnel, the longest tunnel in the state, situated on the Rewa–Sidhi road. In a video that went viral on social media on Friday, the youth can be seen standing on the seat of a high-speed motorcycle and riding through the entire 2.28-kilometre-long tunnel in this dangerous posture. The incident reportedly occurred inside the Mohania Tunnel, which is located on National Highway NH-39. In the video, the youth is also seen repeatedly riding the motorcycle without holding the handlebars. At any moment, he could have lost balance and met with a serious accident. The footage clearly shows that this risky stunt was performed amid regular traffic movement inside the tunnel. Other commuters’ lives also put at risk Both heavy and light vehicles use the Mohania Tunnel daily. Performing such a stunt in an enclosed tunnel environment not only endangered the life of the biker but also posed a serious threat to other motorists travelling ahead of and behind him. Its construction has eased travel between Rewa and Sidhi by eliminating the difficult hilly and winding route, significantly reducing travel time. Negligence of this nature inside a tunnel built specifically with passenger safety in mind has also raised serious questions about the existing security and monitoring system. Such acts will not be tolerated Rewa district Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sandeep Mishra stated, ‘A video showing a bike stunt inside the Mohania Tunnel has come to our notice. The youth involved is being identified based on the footage. Strict action will be taken against anyone found violating road safety rules. Such stunts will not be tolerated under any circumstances.’ Police begin search for the youth Police have launched a technical investigation into the viral video. Details such as the motorcycle’s registration number, the identity of the youth, and the social media account that uploaded the video are being traced. Once identified, legal action will be initiated against the accused under relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
