After the series of deaths due to contaminated water in Bhagirathpura, Indore, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has ordered water hearings (Jal Sunwaai) every Tuesday. In all 85 wards of Bhopal also, water hearings are being conducted for 2 hours, but questions are being raised over the method of collecting the sampling. Staff present in the wards are only testing by mixing 3 drops of chlorine in 10 milliliters of water, whereas according to orders, water needs to be tested on 11 parameters. Meanwhile, the opposition has strongly criticized the city government for declaring drain water as pure. In Bhopal, the first water hearing was held on January 13, second on January 20 and third on January 27. A total of 6519 samples were taken from 2585 locations. Dirty water and Corporation’s clear lies Elderly Ramchandra Tiwari from Prem Nagar said that he has been forced to drink dirty water for 8 days. The new line has not been started yet. The corporation is supplying water through the old line only. No one is listening. This way we will fall sick. Syed Almas Ali from Aishbagh said that contaminated water is being supplied in many areas including Aishbagh and Janta Quarter. They have informed the municipal corporation about this several times, but people are not getting clean water. If this continues, they will organize protests on a large scale.
