The incident occurred in Ward 15 of Rajrapura in Alampur. The parents of the child earn a living by selling pani puri in Gujarat, while their two sons stay with their grandparents in the village. The couple returned home from Gujarat at around 11 am on January 25. At about 4 pm the same day, the father questioned his 14-year-old younger son about his studies. When the boy was unable to explain his coursework properly, the father reprimanded him. Child did not return till late night Upset by the scolding, the child left the house shortly afterwards. When he did not return until late at night, family members searched for him at neighbours’ homes and among his friends, but he could not be located. At around 8 am on Monday, a female relative noticed the boy’s body hanging from a babool tree on the outskirts of the village. Villagers gathered at the spot after hearing the alarm, and the family was informed. Police investigating every angle Upon receiving information about the incident, a team from Alampur police station reached the spot. The body was brought down and a panchnama was prepared. After a case was registered, the body was sent to Lahar for post-mortem examination. Alampur police station ASI Onkar Singh Tomar said that, prima facie, the incident appeared to be a case of suicide. However, he added that the matter was being investigated from all angles and further legal action would be taken after the post-mortem report is received.
