Indian pacer Mohammed Shami on Tuesday appeared before poll officials in Kolkata for his scheduled hearing under the ongoing SIR exercise in West Bengal, an official said. Shami appeared before the poll officials with the necessary documents at a school in south Kolkata’s Bikramgarh area, he said. The pacer revealed that there were slight corrections needed, which have been done. He also spoke about making his international comeback, saying that he continues to work hard. Shami’s SIR form had discrepancies The enumeration form filled out by Shami had discrepancies in some places, because of which he was summoned for the hearing, a senior official in the office of the state CEO said. Shami, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, has been residing in Kolkata for several years due to his cricketing career. The cricketer is registered as a voter of ward number 93 of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, which falls under the Rashbehari assembly constituency. The Indian pacer and his brother, Mohammed Kaif, had been issued notices by the Election Commission to appear for a hearing. ‘My job is to do hard-work’ Speaking about the SIR issue, Shami said that every citizen should get their corrections done. “I believe SIR is not something which is harming you… It is your responsibility to get the correction done, get your name in voter list. They had called me… I had no issues in coming here… they have handled things well, verification process was handled well. I have been here since 20-25 years… if they call me again, I will come,” the pacer reporters. When quizzed about his potential comeback, Shami said that he continues to work hard. “My job is to do the hard work, and I am doing that, rest god will take care of. For the unversed, Shami last played for India during the Champions Trophy final, helping the Men in Blue lift the coveted ICC trophy. But since then, he has been continuously overlooked by the selectors. The veteran pacer continues to keep playing domestic cricket, and remains hopeful that the door hasn’t been closed for his international comeback.
