Viral Mahakumbh model Harsha Richaria has announced that she is putting a pause on promoting Sanatan Dharma, stating that she can no longer continue the struggle alone. Harsha made these remarks in Jabalpur, where she had arrived to take a holy dip in the Narmada River on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. Speaking to the media, Harsha said, One cannot embrace Sanatan Dharma until Sanatan embraces that person. I did not choose dharma; dharma chose me. She further added that she has been promoting Sanatan Dharma for the past year but is now stepping back. Model expresses disappointment over matter Harsha expressed deep disappointment, saying that the very religious leaders whose blessings devotees seek have stood against her. She asked, When those whose darshan we consider fortunate oppose a girl, how long can I fight alone? She further stated that when it comes to religion, one has to first struggle with people of their own faith before confronting those outside it. Lack of unity and dominance of ego According to Harsha, internal conflicts and ego within the religious community have made her journey extremely difficult. She said religious leaders themselves cast doubt, highlighting a lack of unity and understanding. She alleged that whenever a woman progresses on the path of dharma, efforts are made to stop her and pull her down rather than support her. Year of trials and isolation Without naming individuals, Harsha said she has faced opposition from several quarters. She stated that if many people stand against her, she has had to face them alone. After a year of continuous tests and attempts to convince others, she said she is now giving everyone a pause and will return to her previous professional commitments. Peace existed in her earlier life Harsha noted that she never faced such resistance during her career in acting and modelling. She said she could have lived peacefully and had believed the path of religion would offer peace, but now feels her earlier life provided more stability. Opposition from those holding power and wealth Challenging those objecting to her becoming a Sadhvi, Harsha said anyone questioning her intentions could verify her financial records. She alleged that people sitting on positions worth crores are opposing her journey. She questioned the nature of a religion where a woman is treated in such a manner and asked which belief system promotes such conduct. Pause on religious preaching Harsha confirmed that she has been openly preaching religion for the past one-and-a-half years and has now decided to pause that work. She reiterated that sustained opposition from religious leaders made it impossible to continue the struggle alone. She also stated that when a woman’s morale cannot be broken, her character is questioned, a practice she said has existed since ancient times. Women still face barriers in society Harsha announced that on Mauni Amavasya, after taking a holy dip in the Ganga during the Magh Mela, she will publicly declare her decision with the chant of Har Har Mahadev. She concluded by questioning society’s mindset, stating that the country continues to be influenced by male-dominated thinking that prevents women from progressing.
