Australia women’s cricket team captain and veteran wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy has announced her retirement from international cricket. She will conclude her career after the home multi-format series against India in February-March 2026. The day-night Test played in Perth will be her last international match. Will not play the T20 series Alyssa Healy will not participate in the proposed T20 International matches against India. She has taken this decision keeping in mind the Women’s T20 World Cup at the end of the year, so that the team can start preparations with new players. Will end career with Perth Test Healy will play the ODI matches against India and then play her last international match in the day-night Test from March 6 to 9, 2026, in Perth (WACA). This will be the 11th Test match of her career. Mental fatigue and injuries In the ‘Willow Talk’ podcast, Alyssa Healy said that the past few years have been mentally challenging for her. With continuous injuries and increasing age, it had become difficult to keep herself prepared as before. Decision taken in the team’s interest Healy said that trying to play until the T20 World Cup in England in 2026 would not be in the team’s interest. The team is going through a transition phase, and new players need to be given opportunities. She said that the home series against India is emotionally special for her, and she wanted to end her career among her family and team. Alyssa stated that after recovering from the injury sustained during the ODI World Cup, she currently feels fit and strong.
