police-officer-mocks-injured-woman-as-‘bhojai’,-turns-her-away:victim-in-mauganj-went-to-file-complaint-over-attack-on-family;-hospitalised-with-son

In Mauganj district, a mother and son were brutally attacked on Sunday night over a land dispute in Banpadar village. The accused allegedly beat them and used sharp weapons, including swords. When the injured woman reached the police station seeking help, the SI on duty allegedly mocked her by calling her ‘Bhojai’ (sister-in-law) and advised settling the matter through a mutual compromise. The injured, Sarita Sharma and her son Akash, have been admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa. Fled after threatening to kill
Sarita Sharma said, Pramod Pandey, Rishabh Pandey, Shraddha Pandey, Ram Ganesh Sharma, and Ramakant Sharma, all from the same family, broke into their house on Sunday night. They started abusing them over a land dispute. When her son Akash objected, they attacked him with a sword and an axe. When I tried to save him, Ram Ganesh hit me with an axe. They were threatening to kill everyone, saying that no one from the government or administration would be able to do anything. Hearing the noise, the neighbours came, and all the accused fled. After this, I reached the police station, but my complaint was not heard there. SI Gyanendra Patel, who was present at the spot, mocked me by calling me ‘Bhojai’ (sister-in-law). I was driven away from the police station. Assault during court appearance in Tehsil Sarita stated that they have an ongoing land dispute with the accused, whose father has already sold his share of the property, yet they are now demanding a portion of her family’s land. She said the matter is pending before the Tehsil, and during a recent hearing, the accused assaulted her brother-in-law with a bat and hockey stick. Her husband and son intervened and saved him, after which the accused were waiting for an opportunity. On Sunday night, they forcibly entered her house and attacked them. Collector-SP not listening to complaints
Sarita said that she had filed complaints at Mauganj police station many times. But no action was taken against the accused. This has emboldened them. Neither the Collector nor the SP is listening. TI said – Don’t know who called her ‘Bhojai’
Mauganj police station TI Sandeep Bhartiya said, Beat in-charge SI Gyanendra Patel had gone to Banpadar village for investigation. But I do not have information about who called the woman ‘Bhojai’ (sister-in-law). Meanwhile, ASP Vikram Singh said, In Banpadar village, a land dispute between two parties is ongoing in the civil court. Based on Sarita Sharma’s statement, a case has been registered against Pramod Pandey, Rishabh Pandey, Ram Ganesh Sharma, and Ramakant Sharma. Further action will be taken after investigation.
