Gold and silver prices moved sharply higher on January 9, according to data from the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA). The price of 24-carat gold climbed ₹1,422 to ₹1,37,195 per 10 grams, up from ₹1,35,773 a day earlier. Silver saw an even steeper rise. Prices jumped ₹4,168 to ₹2,39,994 per kg, compared with ₹2,35,826 on January 8. Gold had earlier touched a record high of ₹1,38,161 per 10 grams on December 29, 2025.
