Bengaluru-bound flight makes emergency landing in Indore:Plane diverted after infant onboard falls ill; child dies en route to hospital

An Air India Express flight from Jaipur to Bengaluru made an emergency landing at Indore airport on Tuesday evening after a one-year-old child onboard fell seriously ill. Despite immediate medical attention, the child died before reaching the hospital. Child experienced severe breathing difficulties The flight, IX1240, was scheduled to depart from Jaipur at 5:30 PM and arrive in Bengaluru at 8:10 PM. During the journey, the child, later identified as Mohammad Abrar, started experiencing severe breathing problems, which were reported to the cabin crew by the family. As the condition worsened, the pilot contacted Indore airport ATC around 7:20 PM, requesting an emergency medical landing. The airport declared a medical emergency, and a team of doctors was stationed at the aerobridge to assist. Emergency response at Indore airport The plane landed at 7:50 PM, and doctors immediately took over. A doctor onboard had already begun CPR. Airport medical staff continued treatment while the child was rushed to the nearest hospital by ambulance and then referred to Dolphin Hospital. Unfortunately, the child was declared dead before reaching the hospital. Child was unwell before boarding Hospital officials confirmed that Mohammad Abrar was travelling with his father Mohammad Azlan, mother Firoza, and elder brother. Reports indicate that the child was not feeling well even before boarding. It is suspected that water or milk may have entered his windpipe during the flight, causing his breathing to deteriorate.
