Madhya Pradesh continues to reel under intense cold and thick fog. Temperatures have dropped to record lows in several districts, visibility has reduced sharply, and daily life has been badly affected. Schools have been closed in 24 districts, timings have been changed in seven others, and train services have suffered massive delays, with some trains running up to 14 hours late. Record-breaking cold across districts Several districts recorded extremely low night temperatures. Rajgarh was the coldest place in the state, with the minimum temperature falling to 2°C. Other cold locations included: The sharp drop in temperature has intensified cold-wave conditions across the state. Bhopal sees sudden temperature dip The state capital, Bhopal, recorded a dramatic fall in temperature within a single night. The mercury dropped by 5.6°C, bringing the minimum temperature down to 3.8°C, making it the coldest among major cities. Datia was the worst hit, where visibility dropped to below 50 metres. Dense fog was reported in several districts, including: Gwalior, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Dewas, Sehore, Khajuraho, Bhopal, Raisen, Naugaon, Rewa, Guna, Narmadapuram, Mandla, Satna, Ujjain, Sheopur, Ratlam, Indore, Chhindwara, Damoh, Jabalpur and Sidhi. Schools closed in 24 districts Due to extreme cold and fog, district administrations have announced school holidays in 24 districts. The closures mainly apply to nursery to Class 8, with some variations.
