Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman is not likely to receive any compensation after being released by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of IPL 2026. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) told KKR to part ways with Rahman, after the board came under political pressure. On one hand, at least four Hindus have been killed in Bangladesh, leading to public pressure on BCCI, leading to KKR parting ways with Rahman. Even though Mustafizur did nothing wrong, he may not receive a single penny after becoming the most expensive Bangladeshi player in IPL history. Furthermore, Bangladesh’s IB Ministry has banned the broadcast of the Indian Premier League, in retalition but the move is not likely to dent the revenues of the cash-rich league. Mustafizur may not receive his salary Normally, IPL players’ salary after insured, but since Mustafizur was released by KKR not on injury grounds, his case doesn’t come under standard insurance clauses. No overseas cricketer would want to go through this or take the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) route,” the source said. IPL’s financial might unlikely to take a hit by Bangladesh ban In the days after Mustafizur’s IPL ouster, Bangladesh have retaliated by banning the IPL, however, many reports claim that the league’s revenue is not likely to take a major hit. T Sports holds the broadcasting rights in Bangladesh. Furthermore, Bangladesh have also refused to travel to India for the T20 World Cup 2026, citing security concerns. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have written to ICC, seeking changes in the venues of their T20 World Cup games.
