Bhagirathpura water disaster leaves 150 people hospitalised:Victims admitted to 20 hospitals as severe infection spreads; damaging liver and kidneys functions badly

Several people in Bhagirathpura have fallen ill after drinking contaminated water and are being treated in more than 20 hospitals across the city. Doctors say that in serious cases, the infection has spread to the kidneys and liver, and some patients have been put on ventilator support. The situation has shaken public trust in all water sources, including Narmada supply, borewells and tankers, forcing residents to purify water on their own. One of the critical patients is 75-year-old Shaligram Thakur. He first complained of vomiting and diarrhoea, after which the infection spread to his kidneys, heart and brain. He was taken to four private hospitals but was referred from each before being admitted to Bombay Hospital. At present, he is on ventilator support. Doctors say he is suffering from a gastrointestinal infection along with kidney failure and complications affecting the heart and nervous system, making his treatment difficult. Minister Vijayvargiya said that from now on, no file will be stopped without reason. He gave clear instructions to the officers that for now, Bhagirathpura is the whole of Indore and the administration’s full strength should be focused there. Medical colleges have been instructed to take necessary action, and all suspicious deaths are being analyzed with the cooperation of MGM Medical College. The government has not only appointed three new Additional Commissioners in the Municipal Corporation but has also sent four engineers from the Public Health Engineering Department to Indore. Municipal Commissioner Kshitij Singhal reached Bhagirathpura at 6 AM on Sunday. Increasing surveillance across the entire area, 8 Additional Commissioners have been assigned duties. The area has been divided into 32 beats. The work of finding leakages is still ongoing.
