Dalit groups protest in Gwalior:Protesters demonstrate at Collectorate, demanding NSA action against 7 accused, including a lawyer, over Ambedkar picture burning

Protests have intensified in Gwalior over the burning of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s picture and objectionable sloganeering. On Friday, several Dalit organizations, including Bhim Army and Azad Samaj Party, started a sit-in protest at the Collectorate. Protesters, calling the FIR registered against the accused insufficient, demanded that the National Security Act (NSA) be invoked against Advocate Anil Mishra. Meanwhile, police took four accused, including Advocate Anil Mishra, who were detained in this case, from Purani Chhawani police station to the district hospital for medical examination. After the medical examination, the accused have been presented in court. During this time, the outer gate of the court has been closed. Lawyers allege that they were also not allowed inside during this period. The protesting organizations have warned that the agitation will not be called off until SSP Dharamveer Singh himself reaches the spot and gives a concrete assurance. Actually, on Thursday night, an FIR was registered against seven people, including Advocate Anil Mishra, at Cyber Cell Police Station Gwalior, in connection with burning a picture of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and raising derogatory slogans. Police have taken four accused into custody in this case. According to the police, Anil Mishra was taken into custody on Thursday night when he was leaving to attend an event organized in Morena.
