A devotee visiting the Mahakal temple in Ujjain collapsed at the railway station and lost consciousness. A GRP head constable acted quickly and saved his life by giving CPR at the right time. A video of the incident has now surfaced. Devotee fell ill amid heavy temple rush The incident took place on 1 December at Ujjain railway station. There was a large crowd of devotees travelling for Mahakal darshan. At the same time, the Ujjaini Express (Train No. 14309) was standing at the platform. Passenger collapses on platform During this rush, Devi Singh (30), a resident of Biaora, suddenly felt uneasy between platform numbers 5 and 6. He became anxious and collapsed on the platform. People present suspected that he had suffered a medical attack. GRP constable acts without delay GRP Head Constable Pawan Dhurve was on duty at the spot. As there were no immediate medical facilities available at the station, he did not wait for help. He immediately began administering CPR to the unconscious passenger. CPR given during golden hour Constable Dhurve continued CPR for several moments. Soon, the passenger’s condition started improving. He slowly regained consciousness. This timely action during the golden hour saved the devotee’s life. Video of rescue surfaces A video of the incident has come to light. It shows Constable Dhurve giving CPR to the passenger. Family members of the devotee can also be seen nearby. Some people in the background are heard suggesting it could have been an epileptic seizure. Police Department to honour constable GRP Police Station In-charge Amit Bhavsar confirmed the incident. He said the constable showed alertness and courage by saving the passenger’s life. He added that the SP has written to the department to honour and reward Head Constable Pawan Dhurve for his commendable service.
