The spleen is an important part of the body, located on the left side of the abdomen, below the ribs. Its main function is to purify the blood. It destroys old and damaged red blood cells. Not only that, but the spleen also strengthens the body’s immune system. The spleen helps fight infections and stores and releases blood and platelets when needed.
