A fatal road accident was reported from Umrikheda area of Indore on Monday morning after two cars collided head-on, leaving one person dead and five others injured, including a couple from Mumbai. All the injured were rushed to Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital (MYH), while one victim succumbed to injuries during treatment. Driver of the Ujjain-bound car dozed off ! According to Tejaji Nagar police station in-charge Devendra Markam, one car was travelling from Ujjain to Omkareshwar, while the other was coming from Sanavad to Indore. Preliminary investigation suggests that the driver of the Ujjain-bound car allegedly dozed off, causing the vehicle to veer into the opposite lane and collide with the oncoming car. Those injured in the accident include Nikhil Kothari and his wife Saloni, residents of Mumbai, Aman, son of Rashid Khan from Ujjain, Omprakash, son of Alok Chand from Sanavad, and Chetram, son of Barelal from Sanavad. Bhaiyalal, son of Laxmilal and a resident of Sanavad, was declared dead at the hospital. Police said the front portion of both cars was badly damaged due to the impact, indicating the severity of the collision. On receiving information, Tejaji Nagar police personnel reached the spot and initiated further investigation. Family members informed the police that Bhaiyalal was being brought to Indore for medical treatment in the Sanavad-Indore car. Omprakash and Chetram were accompanying him. Bhaiyalal suffered critical injuries in the crash and died during treatment, while Omprakash was later shifted to a private hospital. Chetram and Bhaiyalal were relatives. Meanwhile, the Mumbai-based couple told the police that they had arrived in Madhya Pradesh for religious visits. They had completed darshan in Ujjain on Sunday and had hired a taxi to travel to Omkareshwar on Monday morning when the accident occurred. The couple is currently based in Mumbai and originally hails from Gujarat.
