A shocking murder case came to light in Bhopal on May 28, 2021. Police found a badly mutilated body in a field in the Kolar Road area. The private parts were missing, and animals had damaged the body. The victim was later identified as Mohan Meena, who was beaten to death and thrown in a deserted place. When police visited Mohan’s house, they found bloodstains on the walls. The blood was confirmed to be Mohan’s. During questioning, police learned that Mohan often doubted the character of his niece. This led to frequent fights in the family. Police said Mohan’s sister-in-law Urmila, her son Raju, and their tenant Rajesh attacked him with sticks and a hammer and killed him. During the investigation, police made another disturbing discovery. A human skeleton was found buried inside Urmila’s house. No one could explain who the person was or how the body came there. This new finding made the case even more serious and raised many unanswered questions. Read in Part 2 of Crime Files… A character who had been missing for 5 years In this entire story, one character was still missing – Urmila’s husband, Ranjeet Meena. He had been missing for five to six years. Whenever anyone asked about him, Urmila would make an excuse that he lived in Mandideep for work and did not want to talk to anyone. She never let anyone talk to Ranjeet on the phone. Meanwhile, Mohan’s other brother, Sunil, filed another complaint with the police. He stated that his middle brother Ranjeet has been missing for 5 years. He suspects that he has been murdered. Sunil directly accused his sister-in-law Urmila of the murder. Neighbors also confirmed that they had not seen Ranjeet for many years. Now, the needle of police suspicion had completely settled on Urmila. The murder of one brother-in-law and now the case of her husband’s disappearance. The police began a strict interrogation of Urmila again. The story of the first murder built on the foundation of illicit relations About 7 years ago from today, Urmila lived in this house with her husband Ranjeet Meena, brother-in-law Mohan Meena, and her two children. Ranjeet was disabled, which is why Urmila did not like him. There was no warmth in the relationship between the husband and wife. Taking advantage of this emptiness, brother-in-law Mohan increased his closeness with his sister-in-law. Soon, an illicit relationship developed between the two. This relationship could not remain hidden for long. One day, husband Ranjeet saw Urmila and Mohan in an objectionable situation. After this, quarrels and fights started happening in the house every day. Ranjeet’s opposition became a thorn in the path of Urmila and Mohan. Together, they made a horrific plan to remove him from their path forever. It was the night before the Teej festival in 2016. While the entire neighborhood was preparing for the festival, a terrible conspiracy was being hatched in this house. Father’s body buried in front of the children’s eyes The most painful aspect of that night was that Urmila’s 12-13 year old son and daughter had witnessed their uncle and mother murdering their father, but both were so intimidated and threatened that they never told anyone out of fear. After the murder, Urmila and Mohan planned to dispose of the body. They wrapped the body in a cloth and hid it under the bed. That same night, Mohan started digging a pit inside the house near the septic tank, in which Urmila also helped him. The first night was spent just digging the pit. All day, Ranjit’s body lay under the bed in the room, and the children lived under the shadow of that fear. The same story repeated after 5 years After removing the husband from their path, Urmila and Mohan’s way was clear. Urmila told everyone the same story that Ranjit had left her and the children. Slowly, time passed. People also forgot Ranjit, but they say that the pot of sin eventually overflows one day. For 5 years, everything went well, but now suspicion had made its place in their relationship. Urmila began to suspect that Mohan had a relationship with another woman. Meanwhile, Mohan suspected the closeness between his niece and tenant Rajesh. The illicit relationship for which they had committed a murder was now becoming the cause of a rift between them. Two Murders, Two Life Imprisonments The police investigation was complete. The DNA report also confirmed that the skeleton found near the septic tank belonged to Ranjit Meena. Police registered a case against Urmila for the murder of her husband and concealing evidence. The trial continued for two years in the Bhopal District Court. On January 27, 2023, the court found Urmila guilty of her husband’s murder and sentenced her to life imprisonment and a fine of 500 rupees. Meanwhile, Urmila and tenant Rajesh Valmiki were accused in the murder case of brother-in-law Mohan. This case also ran for two years. On August 23, 2023, the Bhopal District Court sentenced both to life imprisonment. This story of two murders in the same house is an example of the degradation of relationships, lust, and betrayal, which forces society to think about how low a human can stoop in their greed.
