The M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru will not host Vijay Hazare Trophy matches due to security reasons. All Vijay Hazare Trophy matches scheduled to be played in Bengaluru have been shifted to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE). Additionally, these matches will be played behind closed doors and fans will not be allowed entry into the ground. BCCI’s CoE have hosted Duleep Trophy and also India A matches in the past. As per Cricbuzz, this was confirmed by an official from the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). This information was received by the KSCA from Karnataka’s Home Ministry. Delhi and Andhra Pradesh, the two teams facing off on the opening day of the Vijay Hazare Trophy in Bengaluru, were also informed. India’s matches in the Women’s World Cup were also moved out of Bengaluru and shifted to Navi Mumbai. Virat Kohli to play under Rishabh Pant’s captaincy The first match in Bengaluru will be played on 24 December between Delhi and Andhra Pradesh. Virat Kohli will be playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for the first time in 15 years. He will be playing for Delhi under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant. Apart from Kohli and Pant, Rohit Sharma, Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill, Arshdeep Singh, Abhishek Sharma and India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav are among the Team India stars who will play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, it is not clear how many matches Gill, Abhishek and Arshdeep will play, with India’s ODI series and T20I against New Zealand starting on 11 January.
