A 32-year-old contractor in Bhopal ended his life after losing Rs 30 lakh in an online game called Aviator. He left a suicide note mentioning heavy debts and mental stress. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Victim identified The deceased has been identified as Shivan Gupta, a resident of Sharda Nagar. He worked as a civil contractor. On Thursday night, he hanged himself at his home. Suicide note reveals gambling losses During a search of his house on Friday, police found a suicide note. In it, Shivan stated that he had borrowed money from people to play online games and lost all of it. The note mentioned pressure from creditors and mental stress as reasons for taking his life. Mobile phone seized for investigation Inspector Mahesh Lilhare said Shivan’s mobile phone has been seized. It will undergo forensic examination. Cyber police are assisting in identifying the platform on which the Aviator game was played and the method of money transactions. Family unaware of addiction Relatives revealed that Shivan’s business was running smoothly until three months ago. He used to take contracts for house construction. The family was even looking for a girl for his marriage. No one knew about his online gaming addiction. Handwriting verification Police stated that the handwriting in the suicide note will be verified. After post-mortem, Shivan’s body has been handed over to his family.
