The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has widened the probe in the ₹1,000 crore “illegal” betting app case. ED has intensified its investigation into a massive money laundering case linked to an alleged illegal betting app, 1xbet, registered in Curacao. On Friday, ED attached the assets of former Indian cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Robin Uthappa, and Sonu Sood. Apart from that, Ex-TMC MP Mimi Chakraborty’s assets have also been attached by the ED in an “illegal” betting app linked money laundering case estimated to be worth more than ₹1,000 crore, official sources said Friday. According to PTI, the properties of actor Neha Sharma, mother of actress Urvashi Rautela and Bengali actor Ankush Hazra have also been attached after the federal probe agency issued a provisional order under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). According to sources, the ED has provisionally attached assets belonging to several prominent figures, including actor Sonu Sood, former Indian cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Robin Uthappa, and ex-TMC MP Mimi Chakraborty, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). These assets have been categorised as “proceeds of crime,” indicating illicit funds derived from the alleged betting operation. The attached assets include approximately ₹1 crore belonging to Sood, ₹59 lakh to Chakraborty, ₹2.5 crore to Yuvraj Singh, ₹1.26 crore to actress Neha Sharma, ₹8.26 lakh to Uthappa, ₹47 lakh to Bengali actor Ankush Hazra, and ₹2.02 crore to the mother of model Urvashi Rautela. The ED had previously questioned all the celebrities involved. This action follows the earlier attachment of assets worth ₹11.14 crore belonging to former cricketers Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina, further demonstrating the scale and reach of the investigation. The ED’s actions signal a determined effort to crack down on illegal betting operations and recover illicit funds.
