American investment firm L Catterton has invested in Indian packaged food major Haldiram’s through a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the company’s growth in India and expanding its global footprint. As part of the partnership, L Catterton will support Haldiram’s in strengthening its supply chain and distribution network, expanding into new geographies, and developing leadership talent. The company will also benefit from L Catterton’s global expertise, industry network, and local insights. A key advantage for Haldiram’s is the involvement of L Catterton’s India Executive Chairman, Sanjiv Mehta, former chairman and managing director of Hindustan Unilever. ‘L Catterton’s Investment Will drive Haldiram’s Market Growth’ Commenting on the partnership, Mehta said Haldiram’s is an iconic Indian brand and the country’s leader in the ethnic snacks category, with strong potential in the global packaged snacks market. “By supporting Haldiram’s, we aim to drive growth in India’s expanding consumer market and accelerate its international expansion,” he said. Founded in 1937 as a small sweets and snacks shop in Bikaner, Rajasthan, Haldiram’s has grown into India’s largest ethnic snacks company, with products sold in over 80 countries, including the US and Singapore. L Catterton’s Global Presence L Catterton has invested in several global packaged food and consumer brands, including Cholula Hot Sauce, Ferrara Candy Company, Kettle Foods, Kodiak, Little Moons, NotCo, Planted, Plum Organics, Farmley, and Goodles. The firm manages about $39 billion (around ₹3.5 lakh crore) in equity capital. Growing Investor Interest in Haldiram’s Haldiram’s has attracted strong investor interest this year. In March, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund Temasek acquired a 10% stake in the company’s snacks business for $1 billion, valuing it at around $10 billion (₹90,000 crore). Earlier, Abu Dhabi-based International Holding Company (IHC) and New York-based Alpha Wave Global bought a combined 6% stake at the same valuation. With L Catterton’s investment, the firm becomes the fourth major institutional investor in Haldiram’s this year. In April, the Delhi and Nagpur units of Haldiram’s merged to form Haldiram Snacks Food Private Limited, marking a key milestone in the company’s consolidation and growth journey.
