A teenage girl was shot on a public road in Datia while returning from Shahpur Hanuman Temple on Tuesday evening. The attacker, a 25-year-old married man, later shot himself and died on the spot. The girl was seriously injured and has been referred to Gwalior for treatment. Police suspect a one-sided love angle and are investigating. The incident took place around 5 pm in the Gondan police station area of Datia district. The girl was returning from darshan at the well-known Shahpur Hanuman Temple. Attacker opened fire suddenly According to police, the accused, identified as Manvendra Yadav from Gondan, stopped the girl on the road and fired at her with a country-made pistol. He did not speak to her before shooting. Girl seriously injured Doctors at Datia District Hospital said the bullet pierced the girl’s chest and exited her body. She told doctors that she was returning from the temple with her friends when the accused suddenly shot her. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was referred to Gwalior. People nearby rushed to the scene after hearing the gunshot. Both the injured girl and the accused were taken to hospital immediately. Doctors declared the accused dead on arrival. Victim visited temple every Tuesday Gondan police station in-charge Pradeep Sharma said the girl, a resident of Kamalpuri village, visited Shahpur Hanuman Temple every Tuesday. She was returning home when the attack happened. Police Suspect Love Angle Police said the case appears to be linked to a love-related issue.
