India’s young batting star, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, is quickly becoming one of the most exciting talents in youth cricket. The teenager delivered another extraordinary performance in the U-19 Asia Cup on Friday (December 12) in Dubai, scoring a sensational 171 against the UAE. His innings once again proved why he is being seen as the next big thing in Indian cricket. Suryavanshi’s form this season has been remarkable, and his consistency across different tournaments has made him a player to watch closely. In the match against the UAE, Suryavanshi started confidently and reached his half-century in just 30 balls. What followed was even more stunning; he took only 26 more balls to reach his hundred, completing the milestone in just 56 deliveries. His attacking style left the UAE bowlers helpless as he crossed the 150-run mark in only 84 balls. By then, he had already smashed 13 sixes, the most ever hit in a Youth ODI (U19) innings. Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s record-breaking knock in Dubai During India’s innings, Suryavanshi added a massive 212-run partnership with Aaron George, who contributed a steady 57. Their stand helped India cross the 250-run mark before the 30th over. Suryavanshi eventually fell for 171 off just 95 balls, with his innings featuring nine fours and an incredible 14 sixes. His powerful and fearless approach once again highlighted his ability to dominate bowlers at this level. Consistent performer across formats for Team India This is not the first time Suryavanshi has shone on the big stage. He was also part of India’s Rising Star Asia Cup (T20) squad earlier this year, where he smashed a brilliant 144—also against the UAE. He finished that tournament as India’s highest run-scorer and the second overall, scoring 239 runs in four innings at an average of almost 60 and an unbelievable strike rate of nearly 245. Suryavanshi’s success in domestic cricket for Bihar After his Rising Star Asia Cup heroics, Suryavanshi returned to play for Bihar in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), India’s domestic T20 competition. There too, he impressed with a superb unbeaten 108 against Maharashtra. Unfortunately for Bihar, his ton came in a losing cause as Prithvi Shaw’s quick-fire 66 helped Maharashtra win the match by three wickets.
