A physically disabled man in Satna shot an electricity department worker during an attempted robbery. The worker survived, fought back, and took away the attacker’s country-made pistol. The attacker’s artificial leg fell off, yet he still managed to escape on one leg. Police are now searching for him using CCTV footage and a prosthetic leg found at the scene. Shooting during robbery attempt The attack took place near the railway line above the Prem Nagar underpass in the City Kotwali area on Thursday. The attacker tried to rob the worker. During the struggle, the electricity worker grabbed the attacker’s pistol. In the scuffle, the attacker’s artificial leg came off. Despite this, he escaped by hopping on one leg. Worker reached the police station himself The injured worker, Ramnaresh Varman, still managed to reach the City Kotwali police station on his own. Seeing his condition, the police sent him to the district hospital.Doctors say his condition is stable. Attacked while returning from duty Ramnaresh, aged 60, works as a peon in the electricity department. He was returning from duty towards the railway station when the attack took place. A disabled youth approached him and fired at him with a country-made pistol. The bullet hit his chest. Despite this, Ramnaresh fought back and tried to catch the attacker. Ramnaresh told the police he has no enmity with anyone. He does not know the attacker. He said the attack was sudden and unprovoked. Escape on one leg People nearby assumed the attacker would not escape without his artificial leg. However, he took advantage of the darkness and ran away on one leg. CCTV footage later showed the attacker going down the underpass stairs and moving towards the road. Police also found that he tried to stop an auto and even asked a motorcyclist for a lift. Both refused after noticing he was missing a leg. Clue: Name written on the artificial leg Police found the attacker’s artificial leg at the spot. The name “Rajendra” was written on it. Based on this, police are questioning disabled people in Dhawari, Rajendranagar and nearby areas.
