The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is preparing for an important Annual General Meeting (AGM) on December 22, where several key decisions related to player contracts and payments will be discussed. This will be the 31st AGM of the apex council, and it will be held online. Among the major points on the agenda are the central contracts of cricket superstars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, both of whom have retired from Test and T20I formats and now play only ODI cricket. The meeting will also focus on contracts and financial matters concerning women players in domestic cricket. This revision aims to improve payment structures and support the growing talent across the women’s circuit. In addition, updates related to match officials, digital properties, and other administrative matters will also be reviewed. This AGM will be the first one under the new leadership elected in September, making the discussions even more significant for Indian cricket’s future direction. Kohli and Rohit’s future contracts under review A key topic at the AGM will be deciding the new contracts for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Since both players have stepped away from Tests and T20Is, the BCCI will discuss placing them in a suitable central contract category based on their limited-overs participation. Shubman Gill likely to move to A+ category As India’s current Test and ODI captain, Shubman Gill could be promoted to the prestigious A-plus category in the central contract system. The A+ list includes top-performing players with major responsibilities in international cricket. Senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah are also expected to remain in this elite category. Gill’s rapid rise in leadership makes his promotion a strong possibility during the meeting. India Women’s pay structure, domestic cricket are on agenda Apart from India men and women player contracts, the AGM will also consider a revision in payments for umpires and match referees in domestic cricket. The BCCI will review suggestions to improve compensation and working conditions for match officials.
