The Income Tax Department conducted raids at two factories owned by former Congress MLA Alok Chaturvedi alias Pjjan Bhaiya, as part of an investigation into previous illegal mining and penalty cases in Chhatarpur district on Wednesday. Raids at two industrial units on Sagar–Kanpur Highway Teams from Indore and Gwalior arrived in a convoy of around 30 Innova vehicles and simultaneously raided Khajuraho Minerals, located near Dhadari on the Sagar–Kanpur National Highway, and a gravel plant situated on Ramanpura Road. Officers scrutinised documents and records inside the premises. Sources said the action is linked to ongoing investigations into earlier cases of illegal mining and fines imposed in connection with those violations. Gates shut, entry restricted during operation As soon as the teams entered, the main gates of both factories were shut. No outsiders were allowed in, and employees inside the premises were not permitted to step out. Interestingly, several of the Income Tax teams arrived in vehicles bearing wedding stickers from Chaturvedi’s daughter’s recent marriage. The stickers read “Ankit Sang Swami.” Raids come days after former MLA’s daughter’s high-profile wedding Just three days earlier, Chaturvedi’s daughter married Sachin, the son of Kanpur BJP MP Ramesh Awasthi. The wedding, held in Rishikesh, was attended by several prominent personalities, including Bageshwar Dham head Dhirendra Shastri, poet Kumar Vishwas, political leaders, and senior officials. Former MLA, family and business partner questioned According to sources, Income Tax Department officials questioned former MLA Alok Chaturvedi and his business partner Ajay Pal Singh, also known as Rao Sahab, for an extended period. Several staff members were also present during the inquiry. The teams reportedly sought details related to financial transactions and production figures. Local police unaware of the operation When the Dainik Bhaskar team contacted, Civil Lines Police Station in-charge Satish Singh said that local police had not been informed about the Income Tax operation.
