A constable stationed at Shahdol bus stand was crushed by a bus. The incident occurred on December 7, and its video has now surfaced. Family members had suspected murder on the day of the incident. The video shows constable Mahesh Pathak (47) performing his duty. Around 2 PM, a speeding bus of Dadu Sons ran over him. The incident occurred at a location where the police department also has CCTV installed, but it has been non-functional for several months. This area is considered highly crowded. During investigation, the entire incident was found recorded in CCTV footage from a nearby shop. He was crushed while directing a bus to the side
Constable Mahesh Pathak was posted at the Kotwali. On Sunday, he was on duty at the bus stand. In the afternoon, while he was directing a Pakshiraj Travels bus to the side, a Dadu Sons company bus number MP18 P 0455, coming from Byohari towards Shahdol, hit Mahesh from the front. The constable was from Sathni village in Sirmour tehsil of Rewa. He joined the police in 2013. He has a wife and two children aged 25 and 20 in his family. On the day of the incident, the family had expressed suspicion of murder. Allegations of no action taken against bus operator
Local residents and bus stand employees have accused Dadu Sons buses of acting arbitrarily for a long time. The Traffic Department, Transport Department and other transport operators have also filed complaints against these buses. From Byohari bus stand to half the city, illegal occupation of Dadu Sons and Deepak Travels buses can be seen. On the National Highway, right next to Byohari police station, bus operators have turned a part of the road into an unofficial yard for years. No action is taken by the police on this matter either. Police recreated the accident
Police have registered a case of culpable homicide against bus driver Kapil Singh. The accused has also been arrested. BJP MP Himadri Singh has written to the CM demanding martyr status. Additionally, a demand has been made for compassionate appointment of a family member. CSP Raghavendra Dwivedi and Traffic In-charge Sanjay Jaiswal recreated the accident by sitting in the Pakshiraj Travels bus. Police are currently investigating whether this was just an accident or a deliberate murder by running over. Brother’s bus was seized a day before
According to police, one day before the incident on Saturday night, the transport department seized bus number MP18 P 1255 of Deepak Travels owned by Mrigendra Mishra, brother of Pushpendra Mishra who operates Dadu Sons, from Shahdol bypass. This bus was operating on a school permit. Both brothers live in Byohari and operate buses under different company names. Dadu Sons runs about 40 vehicles in the area. Demand for activating CCTV and improving management
Even after the constable’s death, there has been no change in the situation at the bus stand. Buses are still parked arbitrarily inside the stand, which poses a risk to disorder and security. Local citizens are raising questions that when police are not taking strict action even after the death of their own personnel, how will the safety of common people be ensured? There is deep anger among citizens after this incident. They are demanding immediate strict action against bus operators, activation of non-functioning CCTV cameras and removal of mismanagement at the bus stand. Read this news too… 1.
