Indian star batter Virat Kohli has reached the number two spot in the ICC ODI rankings. ICC released the weekly rankings on Wednesday. Meanwhile, former captain Rohit Sharma remains at the top. Kohli, who was chosen Player of the Series after scoring 302 runs in the three-match ODI series against South Africa, has gained two places. Virat scored centuries in the first two matches of the series. Rohit, who is just eight rating points ahead of him, scored 146 runs in the series. India will now play their next ODI against New Zealand from 11 January, and all eyes will be on Kohli-Rohit’s race for the number 1 spot. KL Rahul’s consistent ODI performances favour him in the ODI rankings Apart from Kohli, KL Rahul has also benefited in the ODI batsmen’s rankings. Rahul climbed two places to reach 12th position. Among bowlers, Kuldeep Yadav jumped three places to reach third position. South Africa’s Quinton de Kock (13th), Aiden Markram (25th) and Temba Bavuma (37th) also gained ground in the rankings. Indian bowlers benefit the most in the T20I rankings In the T20 rankings, South Africa’s young batter Dewald Brevis reached the eighth position after scoring a brilliant half-century in his first match. From India, bowlers Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, and Jasprit Bumrah have also benefited in the T20 rankings. Mitchell Starc’s Ashes heroics earn him 3rd Test rankings In the Test rankings, Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc took 18 wickets in the first two Ashes Test matches. He won the Player of the Match award in both matches. He has jumped three places to reach the third position. England’s Harry Brook slipped two places to fourth. Meanwhile, the Christchurch Test between New Zealand and the West Indies ended in a draw, after which Rachin Ravindra climbed nine places to 15th. Tom Latham also registered a gain, while West Indies’ Shai Hope, Justin Greaves, and fast bowler Kemar Roach improved their rankings.
