Asian Legends League set to start on January 19:Gulf Gladiators, Pakistan Panthers added, impact rule inspired by IPL; 25 matches to be played in tournament

The Asian Legends League is set to return with its second season, scheduled to take place from January 19 to February 1, 2026. The official announcement was made by the World Sports Group (UAE) during a special event in Mumbai, confirming the tournament’s renewed format and expansion. For the upcoming season, the league will feature a total of seven franchises. This includes the addition of two new teams, which will bring more variety and competitiveness to the tournament. The expansion also reflects the growing popularity of the league across the continent. In a major update, the Impact Player rule will be introduced. This rule is expected to add more strategy and excitement to the matches, giving teams the flexibility to make crucial tactical substitutions during the game. Asian Legends League’s Cricket Operations Director Sandeep Patil said that with the addition of two new franchises, both the scope and excitement of the league will increase. The new teams include ‘Gulf Gladiators’, which will feature players from Gulf and Associate Nations, and ‘Pakistan Panthers’. Impact Player rule implemented like IPL
Technical Committee Director Madan Lal said that the Impact Player rule will be implemented this season, like in IPL. According to him, since former international players participate in our league, this rule will help maintain the league’s energy, balance and quality. This is not just a tournament but an event that brings together Asian legends on one platform. League Commissioner Akash Chopra said that the Asian Legends League is a celebration of Asian cricket’s glorious heritage and spirit. He said, “Season 2 will not only bring legendary players back to the field but will also inspire young cricketers from Asia. This tournament is like a bridge between cricket’s past and future.” Each team will play 6 league matches
Each franchise will play 6 league matches in a round-robin format. There will be 25 matches in total. Matches will continue for 14 days.
