75 engineers in Bhopal made BLO assistants as punishment:Municipal Commissioner takes action over negligence in civil work; SIR digitization work assigned

Around 75 assistant and sub-engineers of Bhopal Municipal Corporation have been made BLO (Booth Level Officer) assistants as punishment. They could not provide information about their civil work to Municipal Commissioner Sanskriti Jain. Angry with this, the Commissioner assigned them SIR digitisation work while making them BLO assistants. Engineers have been given this unique punishment until December 4. Although the order was issued on November 27, the SIR date had not been extended then. On the other hand, Commissioner Jain has gone to South Korea and will return on the morning of December 6. In such a situation, Acting Commissioner Anju Kumar will issue a new order. This is why Commissioner Jain got angry
All engineers are from the civil department. It is said that Municipal Commissioner Jain had asked the assistant and sub-engineers about their civil work. No response could be received even in 15 days about this. The Commissioner became angry due to the delay in providing information. After this, their duty was assigned as BLO assistants according to the assembly. They were made BLO assistants Order states – Work duty from 7 AM until night assembly
Commissioner Jain has said in his order that Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) can utilise these engineers at other polling stations as required. They will work daily from 7 AM until the night assembly ends, during which they will collect counting forms from voters and complete the digitisation work within the timeframe. These engineers will have to submit assembly-wise progress reports every two hours to the Additional Commissioner and the concerned ERO. Order states – No progress in civil works
The Corporation Commissioner’s order states that due to the lack of progress in civil works of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation, engineers are being assigned duty as assistants to Booth Level Officers. Assigned to assembly booths where work is weak
The notable thing is that all engineers have been deployed at booths that are in the top 20 in terms of poor performance. On this matter, Deputy District Election Officer Bhuvan Gupta said that Assistant Engineers and Deputy Engineers have been deployed assembly-wise. They are engaged in SIR work.
