Minister’s in-law taken in custody after deadly shooting in Bhind:Dispute during wedding ceremony; family members block highway

A man was shot dead in Bhind district, with three people accused, including the in-law of minister Rakesh Shukla. The in-law is in custody, while the other two accomplices remain at large. The incident took place in Dang village of Gohad on Sunday night, when JP Kankar from Murlipura arrived with his companions, Sunil Kankar and Deepu Bohre, to attend a wedding. Under the influence of alcohol, they got into an argument with Gaurav Gurjar between 10 and 11 pm. Verbal dispute turned into physical confrontation Notably, the verbal dispute escalated into a physical confrontation, during which JP Kankar opened fire, hitting Gaurav in the stomach. The seriously injured man was referred to Gwalior for treatment, where he later died. JP Kankar is the in-law of minister Rakesh Shukla, while Sunil Kankar is a local Congress leader. Traffic blocked by placing body on highway Traffic on Highway-719 was blocked after Gaurav’s body was placed on the road by his family and members of the Gurjar community. Following the post-mortem in Gwalior, the body was brought to Gohad on Monday afternoon. Around 2 PM, protesters blocked the highway, causing a traffic jam stretching nearly two kilometres, leaving everyone from ambulances to schoolchildren stranded. Additional SP Sanjeev Pathak arrived at the scene and assured strict action against the accused. The traffic jam was cleared only after his intervention. FIR against three, one accused in custody Police have registered an FIR against all three accused under sections including murder. The main accused JP Kankar has been taken into custody. Security has been increased across the entire area. Team reached accused’s house with JCB On Monday evening, the municipal team reached accused Deepu Bohre’s house with JCB and police force. The house was found locked. After this, the team returned. SP Asit Yadav said – Investigation of the case is ongoing. Action will be taken based on the facts that come to light.
